Fancy Colored Diamonds, the Pink Ones

Pink fancy colored diamonds are famous the world over. Out of all the fancy colored diamond the pink is most adored. Ben Affleck, the actor, purchased a 6.1 carat Pink Diamond as an engagement ring for Jennifer Lopez. David Beckham, a soccer player, bought for his wife, former member of Spice Girls Victoria Posh Adams an apology ring for $1.8 million for his public indiscretion.

Most of the loose pink diamonds are originally from the Argyle mines in Australia. Each Pink Diamond found in the Argyle mines receive laser inscriptions for identification purposes. The pink hue is caused by a natural process called plastic deformation.

Fancy vivid and fancy dark are the most desirable hues and because of that, they are the most expensive. Red, purple, and orange are the secondary hues found in the natural fancy pink diamonds. These fancy colored diamonds come in all cuts including; princess, oval, pear, cushion, heart, emerald, marquise and radiant.

The beautiful but rare, Fancy Colored Diamonds

There's not a lot of people who know of the fancy colored diamonds. At least not many people know them by that name. Some may know of the famous Blue Diamond or the very expensive Pink Diamond. There're more colors to catch the eye. Fancy colored diamonds are extremely rare and precious. Fancy Colored Diamonds constitute less than 1% of the world quantity of rough diamonds manufactured every year and this quantity gets less each year. They are quite popular with Hollywood Celebrities.

After Fancy Colored Diamonds have been classified, these natural rough diamonds are certified in a gemological institute such as GIA, HRD, and IGI. Once a stone has been graded and certified the natural loose diamond will have it's own ID number. Measurements of the loose diamonds, diamond weight, diamond shape, clarity, polish, symmetry, and it's fluorescence are record with the diamond ID.

The diamond price is reflected by these categories: color, cut, clarity, and carat cut. Fancy colored diamonds are polished in a way unlike your common white diamond. On the fancy colored diamonds the color needs to be emphasized as much as possible.

Fancy colored loose diamonds can appear either as one primary color or one with a secondary hue. When the colored diamond appears as a single color, the price is much more expensive. An example of one with a secondary hue is a pink diamond with an orange hue or a fancy color of brown, green and yellow, or a grayish blue colored diamond.

The grading system unlike white diamonds, go by color intensity. Fancy colored diamonds are graded by: light, fancy light, fancy, fancy intense, fancy deep, fancy dark and fancy vivid. The stronger the color the higher the price, and this goes for all Fancy Colored Diamonds. I will post more information about these beautiful diamonds in the near future. Thank you for your visit.

Chocolate Diamonds are Fancy Colored Diamonds

Chocolate Diamond Jewelry has been around on the market for a time now and has caught the eye of famous Hollywood celebrities. These stones were thought to be less desirable and many people don't know these Fancy Colored gems even exist. These stones are found in the mines of South Africa and the Argyle mines of Australia. Thanks to diamond dealers like Le Vian, Fancy Colored Diamonds are proving to be more unique and just as beautiful as white ones.

Brown Diamonds are unique and have stunning beauty. These stones are made in a large variety of styles, types and cuts. They are available in yellow and white gold ring settings. Many pieces of jewelry feature white diamonds, as well as turquoise and Chocolate Pearls along with these precious brown stones. There are many different styles of rings, bracelets, earrings, and pendants to please every taste. Red carpet celebrities have found these Diamonds to be exquisite and are wearing them proudly to every celebrity event.

A Chocolate Diamond is a brown stone of several different shades of brown. The shades are cognac, champagne colored, clove, cinnamon and honey. Cinnamon colored stones are reddish brown, while the cognac variety has a warm reddish brown look. Honey is yellow-orange, clove has a dark olive look and champagnes are light colored with a slightly reddish cast. Other fancy diamond colors include; blue, pink, red, green, yellow, orange, violet, grey, purple and black.

Traditionally, the value and desirability of a diamond has been based on it's cut, color and clarity. The perception was, diamonds were most valuable when colorless, or of a rare color such as blue or pink. Diamonds that were common colors, such as the brown diamonds were deemed "low color diamonds" and viewed as less valuable. Now, in recent years the demand for these rare stones have been rapidly growing. These one of a kind stones have been viewed with high value in ancient times. Makes me wonder how these beautiful stones lost favor in modern times.

Rio Tinto's Blue Diamond tender exceeds expectations

Rio Tinto’s recent tender of rare blue diamonds from its Argyle mine in Australia “far exceeded” expectations, the company reported Tuesday. The "Once in a Blue Moon" collection, comprising 16 lots of blue and violet diamonds weighing 287 carats, garnered record prices, Rio spokespersons said. The company did not disclose the value of the sale.

“We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm from new and existing colored-diamond collectors around the globe, especially in such a challenging economic environment,” said Josephine Archer, sales and marketing manager for Argyle Pink Diamonds. “With only 10 years' production left at the Argyle mine, there is clearly a growing awareness that the opportunities to purchase these collections are rapidly diminishing.”

Rio Tinto explained that diamonds for the tender were sourced from several years of production at Argyle, which is famous for its output of pink diamonds. The company recently reported that production at Argyle doubled to 4.4 million carats in the first quarter of 2009 due to the processing of higher-grade ore at the mine during the period.
